# Overlay Flickering

> Troubleshooting steps for overlay flickering, flashing, and graphical glitches.

In some situations, the overlay may become bugged and flicker on and off the screen rapidly. This usually occurs due to conflicting background applications or specific multi-monitor configurations.

## Initial Check

<Warning>
  **Are you playing DayZ?**

  If you are a DayZ customer, some amount of flickering is **normal behavior**. You likely cannot stop the flickering completely, but you can significantly reduce it. Please skip to the [DayZ Optimization](#dayz-specific-optimization) section below\..
</Warning>

## General Solutions

If you are experiencing rapid flickering, please attempt the following solutions in order.

### 1. Disable Conflicting Software

Background applications, specifically those that use GPU acceleration or overlays, often conflict with the loader.

1. Open **Task Manager**.
2. Navigate to the **Startup** tab.
3. **Disable** unnecessary startup applications (especially GPU software like MSI Afterburner, GeForce Experience overlay, etc.).
4. Restart your PC and try again.

### 2. Multi-Monitor Configuration

If you use two or more displays, mismatched settings often cause rendering issues.

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Method A: Sync Display Settings">
    Ensure all connected monitors are set to the **same refresh rate (Hz)** and **same resolution**. Windows struggles to render the overlay across screens with vastly different refresh timings.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Method B: Single Monitor Mode (High Success Rate)">
    If syncing settings doesn't work:

    1. Unplug **all** secondary displays.
    2. Keep only your main gaming monitor connected.
    3. Restart your PC and inject.

    <Note>
      **HWID Note:** Unplugging monitors may alter your hardware ID configuration. If the loader asks for a reset, this is normal.
    </Note>

## The Game Bar Method

If the general solutions above do not work, this Windows Game Bar workaround resolves the issue **99% of the time**.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Activate Game Bar">
    Press `WIN + G` on your keyboard to open the Windows Game Bar overlay.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pin a Widget">
    Find a widget (we recommend the **Performance** widget as it is small). Click the **Pin Icon** in the upper right corner of that widget to keep it on screen.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Close Game Bar">
    Press `WIN + G` again to close the main overlay. The pinned widget should remain visible.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Inject">
    Inject the software normally and launch your game.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Re-Pin (If needed)">
    When the cheat overlay pops up and starts flashing:

    1. Press `WIN + G` one more time.
    2. Ensure the widget is still pinned (you may need to move or unpin/repin it).
    3. Close Game Bar.

    As long as the Windows widget remains pinned while you are injected, the flashing should stop.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## DayZ Specific Optimization

For DayZ users, while you cannot eliminate flickering entirely, you can make it manageable using the following settings:

1. **Cap In-Game FPS:** Set your in-game framerate to match your monitor's refresh rate exactly.
2. **Use Throttle:** Navigate to the **MISC** section of the cheat menu and enable the **Throttle** function.
